How fast is a TRX Hellcat?
During our testing, the TRX shot to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and completed the quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds at 110 mph. That makes it the quickest pickup we've ever tested. Despite its hefty curb weight and huge footprint, the Hellcat-powered Ram is surprisingly refined and easy to handle on paved roads.
The driver is quickly able to reach the top speed limiter – which is set at 118 MPH (around 190 kph). The top speed is limited due to the all-terrain tires on the stock TRX. Soon after the brakes begin to overheat. After all the TRX curb weight is between approximately 6,500 – 6,800 lbs depending on optional equipment.
A workaround to have the truck imported without paying hefty taxes meant the installation of a speed limiter to cap the high-horsepower performance truck at a top speed of just 55 mph.
Top speed is limited to 130mph, up from the regular model's 118. This test car has the full suite of Hennessey Stage 2 mods. That's to say the regular Hellcat motor treated to a 2.65-litre high-flow supercharger, plus a new induction system and fuel injectors combined with engine management recalibration.
Powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, the TRX takes the heart of a Hellcat and stuffs it into a Baja-inspired full-size pickup. As you'd expect, the Ram 1500 TRX isn't cheap and currently sets you back $80,585 before any options or dealer market adjustments are thrown on top.
The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX just beats the Raptor R in terms of power on paper, with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine pushing out 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
The TRX Tyrant Performance packages push the supercharged 6.2-liter (376 cubic-inch) HEMI HELLCAT V8 from 702 horsepower and 650 lb. -ft. of torque, to an amazing 787 horsepower and 702 lb. -ft.

On Terra Firma, the TRX sprinted down our test track, returning a faster-than-lightning 3.8 second zero to sixty time and covering the quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds at 110 miles per hour.
And while all that is impressive, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX takes it all a leap further. It hangs its hat on the Hellcat engine and is the fastest street-legal production truck on the market, a record previously held by the Ford F-150 Raptor with 450 horsepower.
